Today I decided that instead of getting on the treadmill I would do my Qi Gong video and then after I finished that, I broke out my old Dancerobics tapes that I've had for about 30 years. I took a dancerobics class all those years ago, back when we still had a skating rink on Willow Street before it became a nightclub and before it became whatever it is now. I haven't tried to do these moves in years and needless to say didn't do any high kickin' today! Ha! But, at least I was moving and I guess that counts, when you are on the road to recovery, doesn't it?

Well, I've hit one of those stinking plateau's that I warned myself about. I'm stuck at 6 lbs lost. I've missed several days walking, didn't walk Thursday or Friday and I really struggled with it on Saturday but I managed to walk 40 minutes for 2 miles which is better than nothing I guess. Haven't walked yet today but am going to try to do it later. I'll let you know.

As part of the Obama "stimulus" the government will track your personal BMI by 2014. I guess the IRS will be collecting that info when you file your taxes. In case you don't know, BMI is body mass index. BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.
Just another invasion of our privacy...

I got a better offer. :) Winnie called and wanted me to go to lunch with her and her daughter Jordan. We had a good time and I'm proud to say I was sensible with what I ate. So I was proud of myself. Then I had to go to Wally World. Yuck! Hate that place.
I walked 90 minutes today for 4.5 miles and I've lost another pound! Yeah!!!
Slowly, but surely I'm walking the pounds away!!!

Walked another 80 minutes today - 4 more miles.

I walked for an hour and twenty minutes - 4 miles at different speeds and elevations to confuse my muscles.
Later walked another 20 minutes - 1 mile for a total of 5 miles today.
had steamed veggie's and chicken for lunch. Haven't had any sugar in a week and I'm feeling a lot better.
The key to me being successful this go around is to have a plan of action and to stick to the plan. Stay focused on the end game! :) I may never be as small as I used to be, but I will do the best I can to be more healthy and get smaller. Tired of being overweight and miserable.

I've made it through another day and have persevered in the fight to lose weight. I've been very careful in the foods that I chose and the portions. I walked 4 miles today.
When I stepped on the scales this morning I had lost another pound. In doing my research last night I discovered that walking at 3 miles an hour you burn 300 calories in an hour. You need to burn 500 more calories a day, than you take in, in order to lose 1 pound. I've got a lot of calories to burn. What a daunting task I've set for myself but God willing I will do it.

"Woke up this mornin', smiled at the risin' sun, three little birds perched, by my doorstep, singin' sweet songs, a melody pure and true, singin' this is my message to you, singin' don't worry, about a thing, 'cause every little thing, is gonna be all right..."

Yesterday I think I may have overdone the fiber. :) I had cantalope for breakfast then I walked for and hour and I had half of an apple with some peanut butter on it. For lunch I had Chinese and you may say ah-ha that's not got fiber but it does if you order off of the Diet menu and get the steamed veggie's which is what I had. No seasoning at all either. I had to season it myself. It was pretty good after seasoning but before the evening was over my stomach was cramping. There was lots of broccoli in it. So, moderation is the key to fiber, even if you are trying to lose weight!

Okay so I've gotten a little side tracked the past couple of days. Here's the story. On Monday evening my son, Chris, called me and invited me to come down to his campsite. He and his family are down there camping. I walked for 30 minutes on Tuesday morning and then got ready and went to the campsite that evening. I controlled myself with what I ate though. I had stopped at the store and picked up the ingredients for the kids to make smores and I didn't even have one. I felt really good about that. I didn't get back in time to do anymore walking that night.

I've set a goal for myself and even though it seems daunting, I'm going to do my best to achieve it. I want to lose 30 pounds by the middle of September. That's almost three months, from the time I started, and should be a fairly realistic goal. Hopefully. I'm gonna try anyway. I've been walking even though I haven't posted it in a while. So I'll post it now.
July 2 - 50 minutes
July 3 - 30 minutes
July 4 - 64 minutes
July 5 - 62 minutes
I walk at a 3 mile an hour pace which is pretty good for these old, short, fat legs. :)
Got a long way to go, and short time to get there......

I walked again today and still no sugar. I walked 50 minutes. That is a gradual progression from the 30 minutes on Monday. We'll see where this journey takes me. Hopefully to a lighter, happier version of me! Ha!

I went to the Doctor last week and my blood pressure was 114/70 they said "that was good" and I said "no, that was bad." My blood pressure has always run low 90/60 or lower. So I'm thinking that I need to do something about it. I've cut out the sugar one more time!!! :( we'll see how long that lasts. I started walking on my treadmill this week. I walked 30 minutes Monday and 40 minutes today. I'm just tired of feeling bad all of the time. So....... Hope God will give me a little of the determination that I used to have so that I can start feeling better!

When people talk about getting healthy they usually talk about eating less fat, less sugar and carbohydrates. They probably talk about getting more exercise. Rarely do you hear someone say "I'm gonna start cutting down on my daily salt intake".
Salt is right up there in importance with those other things. Too much salt can lead to high blood pressure which can lead to a host of problems later in life. It can lead to heart and kidney disease as these are two of the organs that get over worked by too much salt on a daily basis.

The ball on my right foot just behind my big toe is bruised making it hard to walk. Stepping on too many rocks with it. I miss a day here and there walking and it gets better but it's still not 100%. My weight is around 207-208. Haven't been doing much other exercise besides walking. I need to get back to it. It's a great stress reliever among other benefits.

I haven't been posting a lot lately. Been working on a module to give out points automatically. I have a first draft that gives out points for Word of the Day so far. Working on projects like that helps me to learn more about the Drupal CMS, it's module system, api's and functions while adding functionality to the site. That will benefit me and Limrock.org in the long run.

It's a big sports Saturday. Alabama is playing #20 Ole Miss, the only team to beat the national champion Florida Gators last year. Will they upset #3 ranked and undefeated Alabama? I hope not. Should be a good game. Also, #1 Florida is playing #4 LSU tonight. Will Florida QB Tebow play after suffering a concussion a couple of weeks ago that kept him in the hospital overnight?

Visit the chart here. It shows daily calorie requirements for men and women based on their weight and activity levels. These are only estimates but gives a pretty good idea if you count calories.
