About us

Limrock.org started out as a website for and about the Limrock community in February of 2009. I soon saw that it was impossible not to include the surrounding areas of Jackson County and basically the whole northeastern corner of Alabama. First of all, Limrock is a very small community. I was never going to get any interest in the site if I concentrated on it alone. Also, a lot of people connected to Limrock live in other cities or even in different states. Even the people who live in Limrock want to know about other things in our county and surrounding areas.

Another thing that inspired me to include the whole area is we don't have a community and news site for this area. The local newspapers have a web presence but they're still trying to act like printed newspapers in an Internet Age. I think We can do a better job with the help of the good people from Northeast Alabama.

As the site grew so did my goals for it as I added and still am adding features and making improvements. I hope you'll stick with us through any growing pains we may have. Not every thing is how I'd like it but I have to make the best of my time management. It's frustrating sometimes because I can't get all the ideas that flow through my head done RIGHT now. But as I'm writing this we've just celebrated our first year online and with great eagerness and more than a little trepidation I look forward to what the next year brings.
